Where Physics actually breaks
Classes 9 and 10
Physics sits inside the combined Science paper under CBSE and as its own paper under ICSE. Numericals appear in earnest, and method marks start being awarded for steps students do mentally and never write down. Losing those marks looks like a small thing until the totals are added up.
Class 11 — the year that decides the next two
The hardest single adjustment in school Physics. Mechanics assumes a level of mathematical comfort that Class 10 did not require, the pace of the school syllabus increases sharply, and a gap opened in the first term is still causing damage in Class 12. Most students who struggle in Class 12 Physics were struggling from about October of Class 11.
Class 12
Electrostatics, current electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics, each with its own derivations and its own standard numerical types. The board paper rewards a student who can show a clean derivation and a stepwise solution — not one who arrives at the right number by an unexplained route.

- Units and direction carried through every line, not fixed at the end.
- The student attempts while the tutor watches, so the error is caught at the point it is made rather than at the point it is marked.
On derivations: a derivation reproduced from memory collapses the moment one line is forgotten. A derivation understood as a sequence of physical steps can be rebuilt in the exam hall. The difference is invisible in a home test and decisive in a board paper.

A practical file assembled the week before submission reads like it, and the viva draws on experiments the student performed months earlier and never revisited. Both are worth keeping up with through the term rather than repairing at the end of it.
My child was good at Science in Class 10 and is struggling in Class 11 Physics. What changed?
The mathematical demand and the pace. Class 11 Physics assumes comfort with algebra, trigonometry and graphs that Class 10 Science never tested, and the school moves faster than most students expect. It is the most common point of failure in the whole subject and it is recoverable if it is caught in the first term rather than the second.
Do you prepare for JEE or NEET alongside boards?
This is school and board Physics. Competitive-exam coaching is a separate service with a different syllabus depth and we do not mix the two into one session.
Can Physics be taught online?
Theory, numericals, derivations and graph work all transfer well using a shared whiteboard. Practical technique is better handled at home or at school.
My child understands in class but cannot solve alone. Why?
Watching a solution is not the same as producing one, and following a worked example creates a strong feeling of understanding that disappears at the blank page. This is why sessions are built around the student attempting under observation.
